About

The Repainted Ladies is a labor of love.  Did I mention that it was labor?  Some days, my body tells me how much labor it really is.  But, I wouldn't do it any differently.  I just might have done it sooner--with a younger body.

I began furniture makeovers, initially, because I had the proverbial champagne tastes on a beer budget.  I wanted quality, but didn't want to pay new prices.  I didn't really want new, anyway.  The history teacher in me respects and admires our past craftsmanship.  I love walnut, love maple, love oak and love teak.  Those old woods are beautiful and can gleam with bright,, fresh, new fabrics.

I also love taking something interesting and using it in an unexpected way.  Architectural elements like shutters and doors can be reborn.  Beautiful vases can become lamps  Ironwork can become artwork.

After almost 30 years of teaching high school and college courses, I retired to work even harder  Couldn't be happier.  Drop by to see what is in the showroom or shop.  Or come by and talk about a makeover for your own pieces.  If neither of us has what you want, chances are that I can find it

Don't let the by appointment only policy be an obstacle.  It just means give me a call to make sure that I am here and can open the gate for you and turn on the coffee pot

    Look forward to seeing you.
